Some say we're totally mad! Yes, two people in their seventies taking on
these big beautiful beasts. "Get your head read!" say our relatives, but we
couldn't be happier because the docile, loveable nature of highland cattle
just makes it so easy.

The purchase of our first Highlands in 2004 was the beginning of a love
affair and has enabled us to make use of our land here in the rural
hinterland, forty five minutes north of Auckland. Today we run fifteen
cattle in three herd groups over twelve acres. We find this works well with
rotation and supplementary winter feeding. We are now fully committed to
a natural regime that includes adding seaweed trace elements to the
pasture and using Neem and Tea Tree oils to combat external parasites.
The result has been premium cattle health and a reduction in expenses.

Frandi Highlands is a 'working farm' on the English model, where every
animal works together in harmony for the benefit of the land. The Scottish
Highland, with its smaller, lightweight frame and friendly nature is simply a
delight to own and spend time with.
